A 42-year-old woman who had apparently been stabbed to death was found in the area of Great Falls, Virginia, early Monday morning, Fairfax County police said.

Police identified the woman Tuesday as Carmen Lizet Puch, 42, of Reston.

A community member out for a morning run contacted police just before 7 a.m. about an unconscious woman lying in a parking lot located in the 8800 block of Georgetown Pike.

“When officers arrived, they noticed the female had trauma to her upper body, and she was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Capt. Jason Chandler told reporters at a news conference Monday.

She was lying nearby her 2011 Honda Civic in a parking area for Difficult Run trail. Puch was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they’re working to identify a suspect in the homicide.

“There is no immediate indication that this was a random act,” Chandler said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will carry out an autopsy to determine the woman’s cause and manner of death.
