Most people know MX Player as the app that finally played that one weird video file their phone refused to open. It has grown well past that. These days it also carries a library of free movies, web series and shows, which makes it interesting to anyone who follows entertainment releases and wants somewhere to watch them without paying for another subscription.

Casual viewers who only stream from mainstream services will not gain much here. The appeal is specific: broad format support, deep subtitle control, and a free library sitting in the same app.
