It’ll be an exciting weekend for art lovers in the District as D.C. presents the Art All Night festival.
“Ward by ward and block by block” the city will come alive as residents and visitors “celebrate the culture, creativity and community of Washington, D.C.,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said in a news release.
It begins at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights and goes until 3 a.m. the following morning, each night at locations in every ward across the city.
Nia Stevens is planning the events at Art All Night’s Potomac Avenue East location. She told WTOP that there will be a “sip and paint” for those 21 and over, a cello performance and a rap performance by local rapper K Bay. Black Alley will also perform, and there will be dancing, cotton candy and popcorn for the kids and a Spades tournament.
“It’s a celebration of creativity, culture, community,” Stevens said.
She called the events she planned a “personal love letter to Southeast, DC.”
Some of the events are experiences that the community can participate in, not just watch. Stevens also planned a “Griot Trail Ride, which gives people a chance to experience the history while exploring the neighborhood in a completely unique way.”

Art All Night started in 2011, drawing 30,000 people. Since then, the event has grown to become one of the District’s biggest cultural celebrations, attracting around 250,000 attendees last year.
