A small aircraft made an emergency landing at Montgomery County Airpark in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Monday night.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said the pilot and a passenger were the only people on board, and neither was injured.
“The initial call was he was intending to land at the airpark in Gaithersburg, couldn’t get the front landing gear down,” Piringer said.
Piringer said emergency crews were dispatched to the airport while the pilot attempted to fix the landing gear issue and burn off fuel.

When the problem could not be resolved, the pilot safely landed the plane just after 7 p.m. without a functioning nose landing gear, Piringer said. There was no fuel leak.
“Moderate damage to the aircraft, but no fire, no injury. In fact, great job by the pilot to get it down in this manner,” Piringer said.
The airport was briefly closed to air traffic during the incident.
