ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — A gunman has opened fire near a high school in western Turkey on Tuesday, officials said. Media reports said at least four people were wounded.

The attack took place in front of a vocational and technical high school in Turgutlu district, in Manisa province, the provincial governor’s office said in a statement. Police and medical teams were sent to the scene, the statement said.

HaberTurk news channel said at least four people — mostly students — were wounded in the attack. It said the assailant fired at students arriving at the school with a shotgun.

The motive of the attack was not immediately known.

Turkey has been shocked by two school shootings this years.

In April, a 14-year-old student opened fire on two classrooms at his school in southeastern Kahramanmaras province, killing nine students and teachers and wounding 13 others. The attacker was killed by police.

A day earlier, 16 people, mostly students, were wounded when a former student opened fire at a high school in nearby Sanliurfa province. The assailant later killed himself.
