The nor’easter that canceled Ocean City’s Oceans Calling music festival continues to batter Maryland’s coast, while the D.C. region deals with a cool, breezy and occasionally wet Sunday.
Scattered showers are possible across the D.C. area, especially north and east of the Beltway, with highs in the mid-60s and northwest wind gusts up to 35 mph. Additional rainfall is expected to remain light in most locations.
Those heading to Northwest Stadium for the Washington Commanders’ 1 p.m. home opener should prepare for cloudy, cool and windy conditions. While widespread heavy rain is not expected, occasional showers remain possible during the game, with temperatures in the mid-60s and gusty northwest winds making it feel cooler.
The storm’s most significant impacts remain along the Delmarva coast, where rough surf, dangerous rip currents, beach erosion and coastal flooding continue.
In Ocean City, officials urged residents and visitors to avoid flooded areas after storm conditions forced the cancellation of the three-day Oceans Calling festival. Police are recommending travelers use Maryland Route 90 because standing water has affected some lower-lying roads.
The National Weather Service said tidal flooding remains a concern through early Monday in some Chesapeake Bay and tidal Potomac shoreline communities, with coastal flood advisories in effect for parts of the region.
Conditions are expected to improve Monday as the storm moves farther offshore. Highs should reach around 70 before sunshine returns Tuesday and temperatures climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s by the middle of the week.
