Scattered showers rush in Wednesday night, bringing temperatures in the 60s.
“The cold front settles across the area and stalls, keeping showers in the forecast,” 7News Senior Meteorologist Steve Rudin said. “Cooler air moves in behind the front, bringing an end to the record warmth. The stalled boundary sticks around into Thursday morning, keeping the unsettled stretch going.”
Thursday’s highs will be between 63 and 68 degrees, and it will be much cooler and mostly cloudy. Showers will continue through the afternoon, easing into the evening.
But Friday kicks off the weekend with the return of warm weather and high temperatures between 72 and 80 degrees. And enjoy it while it lasts because Saturday’s high is topping off in the 50s.

Winds increase, with gusts of 30 to 40 mph possible across much of the area and 35 to 45 mph in the mountains. A few storms could produce strong to severe wind gusts. A chilly, breezy start brings temperatures in the 40s, with low to mid 30s in the mountains. Wind chills dip into the 20s in the Alleghenies and the 30s to low 40s elsewhere. Sunshine increases, but highs only reach the 50s, with 40s in the mountains. Northwest winds gradually ease. A cold start could bring frost to much of the D.C. region, with a freeze possible in many locations, especially west of the Blue Ridge. Freezing temperatures could extend farther east, outside downtown D.C. if the colder forecast plays out. Sunshine and quiet weather follow, with highs recovering to near 60 degrees.
