Police in Alexandria, Virginia, are asking for the public’s help in identifying an individual responsible for painting graffiti at multiple locations along the Mount Jefferson Park pathway.
The Alexandria Police Department said in a Saturday news release that the graffiti includes words such as “ICE” and “REPORT TO DEPORT,” as well as the phone number “1-866-DHS-2-ICE.”
Investigators believe the incidents took place between 11 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
“Incidents that incite fear or make members of our community feel targeted have no place in Alexandria,” Police Chief Tarrick McGuire said in a statement.
“Every member of our community deserves to feel safe and respected.”
Detectives have interviewed community members and reviewed video footage as part of their investigation.
Residents with related recordings or photos from the 100 and 200 blocks of Clifford Avenue, 3000 block of Manning Street, or any surrounding areas are urged to submit the contents through the department’s online evidence portal.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the graffiti to contact Detective Kay at 703-746-6263. Callers may remain anonymous.
