Friday’s March on Washington is the first of several upcoming events that will close some roads in D.C., including a fair for students at George Washington University and a celebration to get kids ready to head back to school.

The 63rd March on Washington rally for voting rights is taking place Friday on the National Mall. George Washington University’s First Night x Org Fair, in Northwest, and the Ready, Set, Safe! Back-to-School Family Day, in Southeast, will be held Saturday.

Take a look at the street closures to accommodate these events.

March on Washington

According to the National Park Service, these roads will be closed to vehicle traffic until 5 p.m.:

• Henry Bacon Drive NW
• Ohio Drive SW from Ericsson Statue to Inlet Bridge
• West Basin Drive between Ohio Drive SW to Independence Avenue SW
• 23rd Street SW between Independence Avenue and Lincoln Memorial Circle
• Daniel French Drive SW
• West Potomac Park Drive between Ohio Drive SW and Independence Avenue SW

These roads will be closed to vehicle traffic from 2 p.m. to about 3 p.m.:

• Independence Avenue from 17th to 23rd Street SW
• 17th Street from Constitution Avenue to Independence Avenue

The park service is limiting, or closing, public access to these parklands and roads until 3 p.m.

• Lincoln Memorial granite landing, and portions of the steps ascending into the memorial
• Lincoln Memorial chamber, colonnade, granite landing, steps plaza and undercroft
• Grass area inside of the vehicle barrier that surrounds the Lincoln Memorial

George Washington University’s First Night x Org Fair

On Saturday, these streets will be labeled as emergency no parking and closed to vehicle traffic from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., according to D.C. police:

• H Street, NW between 20th Street and 22nd Street NW
• 21st Street from I Street to G Street NW

Ready, Set, Safe! Back-to-School Family Day

This street will be labeled as emergency no parking and closed to vehicle traffic from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.:

• D Street, between 7th Street and 8th Street SE

D.C. police said that vehicles will be ticketed and towed if they’re parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs.
