BALTIMORE (AP) — Tyler Huntley and Joe Fagnano each threw a touchdown pass in a dominant first half for the Baltimore Ravens, who wrapped up their preseason schedule with a 41-3 rout of the Washington Commanders on Friday night.

With deep backups playing for both teams, it’s hard to take much from this game, but anyone who bothered to watch saw a one-sided affair. Baltimore finished with a 26-7 edge in first downs, with the Commanders getting three of theirs on the very last drive. The Ravens also had a 456-177 advantage in total yards.

The one sour note for the Ravens was a shaky game from kicker Tyler Loop, who made field goals of 51 and 24 yards but missed from 51 and 58. Loop, whose miss at the end of last season kept Baltimore out of the playoffs, went 5 of 8 on field goals in three exhibition games this year.

The Ravens won all of them, though. Huntley played only the first offensive series Friday and completed all four of his passes, including a 25-yard scoring strike to Chris Moore that made it 7-0.

FALCONS 17, DOLPHINS 12

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Tua Tagovailoa led a touchdown drive but lost a fumble while playing the first quarter against his former team, and Atlanta beat Miami.

Tagovailoa was booed as he took the field and finished 7 of 8 for 95 yards while playing three series. The 28-year-old spent his first six seasons with Miami before the Dolphins released him in March.

On his first series, Tagovailoa led a 60-yard drive, capped by Brian Robinson Jr.’s 3-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead.

Tagovailoa fumbled the snap to start Atlanta’s second drive and Miami recovered. His third drive also ended in a turnover when Dolphins linebacker Jackson Woodard recovered Robinson’s fumble at the Miami 13.

He was replaced by Cooper Rush, who went 13 of 18 for 106 yards and a touchdown.

Michael Penix Jr., the Falcons’ starter for nine games last season who returned to practice Monday, participated in warmups but didn’t play. He had been sidelined since last November with a torn ACL in his left knee.

PANTHERS 16, TEXANS 13

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Rookie Miles Davis ran for a 1-yard touchdown, Ryan Fitzgerald kicked three field goals and Carolina held on to defeat Houston in the preseason finale for both teams.

Panthers fourth-string quarterback Kyle Trask, who was signed during training camp following a hamstring injury to Haynes King in the Hall of Fame game, finished 19 of 28 for 147 yards with one interception and led four scoring drives for Carolina (3-1).

Mills ran for 34 yards on 11 carries and Anthony Tyus had 10 carries for 41 yards.

Brett Rypien completed 13 of 23 passes for 101 yards, including a late 6-yard touchdown pass to Zay Jones for the Texans (0-3). He also threw one interception.

Houston’s last-ditch effort to take its first lead of the game ended when Jeremiah Moon sacked Rypien and forced a fumble and Cam Gill recovered with 54 seconds left.

JAGUARS 19, BUCCANEERS 0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jalon Daniels’ chances of earning Tampa Bay’s backup quarterback job seemed to diminish in the team’s preseason finale, a loss at Jacksonville in which neither side played starters.

After leading the Buccaneers to come-from-behind victories against the New York Jets and Kansas City, Daniels got a surprise start against the Jaguars. But he failed to generate much offense, with Tampa Bay punting on six of its first seven possessions. Daniels botched a snap to end the other and was sacked three times.

Daniels completed 8 of 15 passes for 57 yards in nearly three quarters. He also ran four times for 9 yards.

He didn’t get much help from his receivers. Rookie Dean Patterson IV and third-year pro Kameron Johnson dropped third down passes to end the first two drives and then Garrett Greene let one slip through his fingertips in the second quarter.

Getting the start was a chance for Daniels to show he was ready to supplant Jake Browning behind Baker Mayfield. Daniels is an undrafted rookie from Kansas who had been listed behind Browning and Connor Bazelak on Tampa Bay’s depth chart.

GIANTS 23, JETS 6

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Chip Trayanum was taken to a hospital with a neck injury after earlier running for a touchdown in the New York Jets’ preseason loss to the Giants on Friday night.

The Jets announced that Trayanum, an undrafted rookie running back from Toledo, was awake, alert and had movement in his extremities.

Trayanum saw extended snaps as the Jets’ Aaron Glenn and Giants’ John Harbaugh rested almost all of their projected starters in the preseason finale. With 10 seconds remaining before halftime and with the ball deep in their own territory, the Jets opted to hand it off to Trayanum — who was immediately walloped by Trace Ford.

Jets players and coaches remained on the field — many on their knees and praying — as Trayanum was examined in a scary and eerily quiet scene at MetLife Stadium. He was put in a neck brace, strapped to a backboard and loaded onto a cart and driven off the field.

The 24-year-old native of Akron, Ohio, played a major role on offense early with the Jets (1-2).

After Marcelino McCrary-Ball intercepted Jameis Winston — who started in place of Jaxson Dart — on a pass intended for Odell Beckham Jr. that was deflected by Qwan’tez Stiggers, the Jets’ offense hit the ground running.

Literally.

The Jets ran on 10 straight plays, including nine by Trayanum, who capped the drive with 1-yard touchdown run. Rookie quarterback Cade Klubnik, starting in place of Geno Smith, had the other rush on a 6-yard scramble.

Jason Sanders, who won the Jets’ kicker competition this week by beating out Cade York, was wide left on the extra point. He also was short on a 54-yard field-goal attempt.

SAINTS 27, COWBOYS 24

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Zach Wilson led a drive to Daniel Carlson’s 53-yard field goal with 1:55 remaining, and New Orleans beat Dallas.

Sam Howell threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes and had a tying 2-point conversion run for the Cowboys (2-1), who erased a 15-point deficit but missed out on their first undefeated preseason in 20 years.

Spencer Rattler scored on an 8-yard keeper to the pylon while directing three first-half scoring drives for the Saints (1-2), who avoided their first winless preseason since 2015.

Both teams got their last live looks at their respective competitions for the backup job at quarterback — behind Tyler Shough in New Orleans and Dallas’ Dak Prescott.

Joe Milton, who backed up Prescott last year, was less efficient than in his first two preseason games. Still, he might have done enough in those to keep his job over Howell, an offseason free agent addition.

BENGALS 30, EAGLES 13

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Veteran Josh Johnson threw for 156 yards in the first half, Evan McPherson kicked a 56-yarder for one of his three field goals and Cincinnati capped a perfect preseason with a victory over Philadelphia.

Ke’Shawn Williams had a touchdown catch for the Bengals (3-0).

Andy Dalton completed 12 of 19 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles (0-3).

Neither team played its starters in the final tuneup for the regular season, but there were some roster spots up for grabs.

Tanner McKee struggled in the competition with Dalton to back up Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts. McKee completed 12 of 22 passes for 55 yards with an interception in five ineffective first-half series. Dalton took the snaps after halftime and looked better.

Also struggling for Philadelphia was rookie first-round pick Makai Lemon. The wide receiver was targeted five times by McKee, making three catches for 3 yards. McKee’s interception came on a drop by Lemon, who is an important piece for the Eagles with the departure of disgruntled star A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots. Lemon has missed most of training camp with a hamstring injury and returned to practice this week.

CHIEFS 9, SEAHAWKS 9

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Seattle’s Jason Myers missed a 52-yard field goal as time expired, and the Seahawks and Kansas City played to a tie in a preseason matchup of rookie third-string quarterbacks.

The Chiefs (0-2-1) had their third straight winless preseason, scoring just one touchdown in exhibition play.

Seattle’s Jalen Milroe was 16 of 26 for 223 yards and a touchdown, while the Chiefs’ Garrett Nussmeier was 22 of 34 for 198 yards with an interception.

Neither team played its starting quarterback in the preseason. Sam Darnold was a healthy scratch in each game for Super Bowl champion Seattle, while Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes is recovering from surgery on his left knee last December.

The top running backs also saw little action. Kenneth Walker III, the Chiefs’ projected starter who was the Super Bowl MVP last season for the Seahawks, gained 4 yards on 2 preseason carries. Seattle’s top two running backs, Zach Charbonnet and rookie Jadarian Price, missed the preseason with injuries.

PACKERS 42, CARDINALS 38

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Kyle McCord threw four touchdown passes — including two to Kisean Johnson in the last 3 1/2 minutes of the game — and Green Bay rallied to beat Arizona.

Both teams rested their starters to stay healthy for the regular season.

The Packers also didn’t use backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor, giving McCord an opportunity to play the entire game. The second-year pro responded by going 22 of 35 for 226 yards without turning the ball over.

McCord threw a 28-yard strike to Johnson with 3:19 left that cut Arizona’s lead to 38-35 after Damien Martinez added a 2-point conversion run.

After Arron Mosby intercepted Kedon Slovis and returned it to the Arizona 44, McCord found Johnson again for a 10-yard score with 20 seconds remaining.

Arizona’s Gardner Minshew II, who will back up Jacoby Brissett this season, went 7 of 9 for 126 yards and left the game after throwing a 41-yard touchdown pass to Simi Fehoko on the opening play of the second quarter.

BRONCOS 34, VIKINGS 6

DENVER (AP) — Sam Ehlinger capped a three-touchdown performance with an 88-yard strike to rookie tight end Justin Joly in Denver’s rout of Minnesota.

Ehlinger also directed a smooth two-minute drill that ended with a 20-yard TD toss to Jaleel McLaugilin just before halftime and connected with running back Cody Schrader on a 14-yard TD strike after relieving Jarrett Stidham, who led Denver to scores on his two drives.

Ehlinger finished 15 of 20 for 233 yards, three TDs and an interception.

Neither team played its starting quarterback and Minnesota (1-2) didn’t even play backup J.J. McCarthy, who was beaten out by Kyler Murray in training camp and sustained a minor ankle injury last week against Baltimore.

With Bo Nix looking sharp against Green Bay a week earlier in his only preseason game action, the Broncos split snaps between Stidham and Ehlinger.

Nix was one of 30 Broncos who didn’t dress for the game, and one player who did, wide receiver/kick returner Marvin Mims Jr., sustained a right foot injury on Denver’s opening drive. Mims recently returned from a lower leg injury that sidelined him much of training camp.

The biggest star for Denver (2-1) was Schrader, the third-year running back who rushed for 42 yards and caught six passes for 90 yards, including the touchdown grab that made it 27-6 and capped a 17-play, 85-yard drive in the second half.
