McLaren’s newest flagship supercar is heading into the virtual world as the McLaren W1 joins Forza Horizon 6 on September 10 as part of the game’s British Automotive Series update. The W1 will be available to players who own the Car Pass downloadable content pack, with the car added directly to their in-game garage. Its arrival expands an already deep McLaren presence in the Forza franchise and gives players a chance to experience the newest member of the brand’s exclusive “1” lineage alongside icons such as the McLaren F1 and P1.

The W1 is especially fitting for a game built around exaggerated speed and open-world driving. In the real world, McLaren’s latest halo car uses a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 paired with a hybrid system to produce 1,258 horsepower and 988 lb-ft of torque. McLaren says the W1 can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.7 seconds, reach 124 mph in just 5.8 seconds, and continue on to a top speed of 217 mph. It also features advanced active aerodynamics, including McLaren’s Active Long Tail system, along with a lightweight carbon-fiber-intensive chassis that helps give the car the kind of outrageous performance expected from a successor to the F1 and P1.

The addition of the W1 also strengthens McLaren’s representation in Forza Horizon 6, where it becomes one of 13 McLaren models players can own, modify, and drive. Both the F1 and P1 are recognized as “Legendary” vehicles in the game, and the W1 will carry the same designation. For McLaren fans, that makes the September update more than just another downloadable car drop. It is a chance to put the brand’s newest flagship through its paces in a digital environment long before most enthusiasts will ever have the opportunity to see one on the road, much less get behind the wheel.
