The D.C. State Fair is back Sunday, Sept. 6, with a full day of local food, art, agriculture and entertainment and admission is free. The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Anthem Row, 800 K Street NW. There will be live music, kids’ activities, cooking and gardening demonstrations, more than 50 local vendors, contests, roller skating and hand-dancing performances. You can also check out the winners of more than 60 art, agriculture and culinary contests.
Got a jersey from a retired athlete sitting in your closet? Break it out Wednesday, Sept. 9. Pret A Manger is giving customers wearing a retired athlete’s jersey a free Pick Your Pair meal at participating D.C. locations. Your meal must include at least one item from Pret’s “Fresh Out of Retirement” menu, and it’s limited to one meal per person while supplies last. The promotion is available for dine-in and takeout only.
Looking for something free to do Downtown next week? The Golden Triangle BID is bringing back free events at Farragut Square starting Tuesday, Sept. 8. Tuesday evenings feature outdoor fitness classes from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., starting with a special barre class from The Washington Ballet. Then on Wednesday, Sept. 9, you can stop by during lunch for live music, lawn games, used books and even adoptable pets. The free events continue through Oct. 14.
Baja Blast fans, this one’s for you. When an MLB player hits a home run of at least 420 feet, you can score a free 20-ounce Mountain Dew Baja Blast the next day. The promotion runs through Sept. 27. You can sign up to receive a free-drink offer by email, or buy a qualifying Baja Blast and submit your receipt to get your money back, up to $4 at stores or $10 at stadiums. The offer is limited, so don’t wait if you want to try for one.
If you’re an Alienware Arena member, there’s a freebie for you through Sept. 7. Log in each day and you can claim up to 5,000 Dell Rewards Points, worth up to $50, or 100 Alienware Rewards Points. No purchase is required. The points can be used toward gaming desktops, laptops, accessories and more.
Coffee fans, here’s a way to get your Starbucks creamer for free. Buy a Starbucks Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer, then submit your receipt through the offer to get your money back, up to $8. The rebate offer is available through Oct. 31. So you do have to buy it first, but you can get the full purchase price back, up to the $8 limit.
