Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2026) — WTOP News joins Fox 5 DC and NBC4 Washington in partnership with The Washington Sun (formerly NOTUS) to spotlight the outstanding talent in high school athletics across the Washington, D.C., area.
“WTOP is excited to partner with The Washington Sun, NBC4 and Fox5 to help amplify the stories of these hardworking high school athletes,” said Julie Ziegler, WTOP’s Director of News and Programming. “Telling their stories across brands and on all media platforms puts a well-deserved spotlight on these athletes. WTOP is proud to work in partnership with these other great local media outlets to bring this important coverage to the region.”
“All-DMV” will kick off its inaugural season of coverage with public and private high school football, soccer and volleyball in Washington, D.C., Montgomery County, Md., Prince George’s County, Md., Arlington County, Va., and Fairfax County, Va. Coverage will include a Player of the Week story recognizing five outstanding athletes along with features highlighting teams, coaches and trends. These stories will appear across washingtonsun.com, Fox 5 DC and FOX LOCAL, and NBC4 Washington television and streaming newscasts and WTOP News radio broadcasts.
This collaboration aims to fill the gap left by The Washington Post, which eliminated its sports department in February, ending more than 100 years of high school sports coverage.
Michael Errigo, The Washington Sun’s deputy editor of local news and sports, will lead All-DMV. Errigo previously served as the high school sports editor at The Washington Post, where he produced the paper’s All-Met selections.
“The D.C. area is one of the country’s premier hotbeds of high school sports talent. Those athletes deserve to have their stories told, and I’m thrilled we’re going to do that with All-DMV,” Errigo said. “We’re also excited to have Noah Ferguson, a well-known and respected voice in the local high school sports scene, lead our reporting.”
Ferguson previously served as a high school sports reporter for The Washington Post, covering local athletes and coaches for the past five years.
To select Players of the Week, All-DMV will rely on polling from local coaches, community feedback and Ferguson’s observations.
All-DMV will culminate in a seasonal celebration of the winners.

About The Washington Sun:
The Washington Sun launched in 2024 as NOTUS, a news site focused on national politics and policy. But as they watched others pull back on Washington coverage, they knew their hometown deserved better. So they invested — more than doubling the size of their newsroom in just six months. Their work now puts Washington front and center, and they wanted their name to do the same. So NOTUS — short for News of the United States — is now The Washington Sun.
