For the second straight year, D.C.’s creative community will come together on Monday for the District’s 202Creates Con. It’s a daylong series of roundtable discussions, featuring leaders in D.C.’s entertainment, sports, hospitality and other sectors to focus attention on the creative economy.

“Now, we talk about creativity in this city, we’re not just talking about fun and games, we’re talking about dollars and cents,” said LaToya Foster, director of the D.C. Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment, which is sponsoring the event.

“Dollars and cents to the tune of $15.9 billion that’s contributed to our city’s revenue as a result of the creative economy,” Foster said.

202Creates Con will take place at the National Geographic Museum of Exploration, located at 1600 M St., NW, starting at 11 a.m. Those who attend may attend the museum for free all day long, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Key participants in this year’s 202Creates Con include Mayor Muriel Bowser, the president of D.C. United, Danita Johnson, Shawn Townsend, director of the D.C. Restaurant Association, and many more.

“We’re bringing industry leaders who are right here in this city, the creative ecosystem, right under one roof, and we’re talking to people, we’re networking, we have panels and fireside chats, conversations, immersive activations taking place all day long,” Foster said.

The event is free, but officials ask that you register to attend the event.
