A McLean man will serve more than five years in prison for fatally shooting another man during a confrontation in Herndon, Virginia, last year, according to the Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Kianmehr Shirinipaziziba, 20, was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter on May 18 in the death of 39-year-old Jason Hann. The judge imposed a 10-year sentence and suspended all but five years and eight months.
The shooting happened May 23, 2025, near Elden Street and Jonquil Lane.

Police were called to the area for a report of a disorderly man. Before officers arrived, authorities said Shirinipaziziba called police and reported that he had shot someone. Hann was transported to a hospital, where he died.
According to prosecutors, Hann was behaving erratically in the roadway and jumping in front of vehicles when he encountered Shirinipaziziba, who was driving a Tesla.
Witnesses testified Hann kicked the Tesla before Shirinipaziziba shot him once in the chest from inside the vehicle, prosecutors said. Authorities previously said Shirinipaziziba remained at the scene and was arrested without incident, adding he said “I shot him,” and “we need to need him some help.”
“When the defendant was placed in this situation, he responded with violence instead of other reactions that could have avoided this tragic outcome,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano said in a statement. “That is textbook voluntary manslaughter and a clear danger to public safety, which is why my office asked for the maximum possible sentence in this case.”
