Five months after human remains were found in Northwest D.C., police announced Friday that they are investigating the death as a homicide.
D.C. police said skeletal remains were found on May 15 behind the 2900 block of Georgia Avenue NW.
The remains were in an “advanced state of decomposition” and were later identified as 25-year-old Jahari Garrett, of D.C.
Police said Garrett was reported missing earlier this year and was last seen on April 20.
His remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which ruled the manner of death a homicide. The cause of death has not yet been determined, police said.
