After a cold, frosty morning Sunday, the D.C. area is seeing sunny skies with highs mostly in the 60s.
The National Weather Service said frost advisories were in effect for northwest Montgomery and Howard counties in Maryland, along with parts of Northern Virginia, including eastern Loudoun, Fauquier and northwestern Prince William counties until 9 a.m.
The D.C. region will see plenty of sunshine for the rest of Sunday.
Skies will remain clear overnight, but it will turn chilly, with another chance of frost or freezing conditions early Monday, according to the NWS. Temperatures as low as 33 degrees could lead to frost formation.
The National Weather Service warned the cold could damage or kill sensitive plants and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to cover sensitive plants or bring them indoors.
Monday will be sunny, with highs in the 60s, while Tuesday will bring more sunshine and temperatures warming into the upper 60s to low 70s.
The D.C. area is expected to stay mostly dry through Tuesday, although coastal areas could see impacts from a developing nor’easter offshore.
A dry cold front Tuesday reinforces the cool, comfortable air.
